A discharge detection system based on photomultiplier tube was designed to improve sensitivity and linearity of UV detection of HV electric equipment discharge.The system with C8051F120 processor can measure the power of UV radiation in discharge via digital integration.Detection tests in both laboratory and transformer substation were conducted
and the results show that the system can detect weak UV light and quantitatively indicate the intensity of the UV radiation for evaluating the intensity of discharge.The discharge detection system has high sensitivity and linearity
and can be applied to discharge detection of HV electric equipments.
