For the harmonic source loads of rectifier bridges
DC side shunt active power filter(APF) is found inadequate for voltage type harmonic sources
therefore its dual topology-DC side series APF is studied by analyzing harmonic characteristics of the voltage type and current type harmonic sources.The results show that: DC side shunt APF is suitable for compensating current type harmonic sources
while DC side series APF is more suitable for compensatiing voltage type harmonic sources
which thereby verifies the correctness of theoretical analysis and the implementation of cycle control.
