The characteristic of a microhollow cathode discharge(MHCD) is introduced.A "plane cathode microhollow anode"(PCMA) discharge device is designed on the basic configuration of MHCD.A new discharge device is also designed
and its anode is metal needle
and its cathode is PCMA
which is composed of a "needle-hole" sustained glow discharge.The discharge experiment is carried through in the air
and the high-pressure stable direct current glow discharge is formed in single PCMA
and multi-PCMA can operate stably in parallel at high-pressure without individual ballast resistors.The DC voltage-current characteristics of these discharges show a positive slope
which has positive differential resistance coefficient."Needle-hole" sustained glow discharge can also operate at high pressure to form large-volume high-current density glow discharge plasmas
and the electron density is estimated between 1011~1012 cm-3 in the discharge plasmas
and its volt-ampere characteristic also has a positive slope in the whole discharge area.These high-pressure large-volume high-current-density plasmas can be used in the multi-plasma-process in industry
and can also be used as the trigger circuit of Pseudospark switch-devices.
