The ultra-high-frequency(UHF) method has been proved an effective way for the measurement of partial discharge in GIS. With the high frequency narrow-band method by configuring the spectrum analyzer as zero-span mode
the PD signal from the UHF sensor installed inside the GIS can be phase-resolved to show the point on the AC wave where the discharge occurs. The POWs of different insulation defects in GIS and fingerprint are presented. Different defects of GIS can be identified by the POW modes and fingerprint.
