Large inrush current occurs when energizing unloaded transformer in power system

which provides unfavorable condition in transformer operation. Three methods are proposed in this paper to reduce inrush current: by controlled three-phase switching; by resistor insertion and by changing the distribution of coil winding. The three methods are proved to be effective both by the theoretical and practical considerations which all have advantages and disadvantages

but the feasibility of the former two methods is better.
