Abstract
Through analyzing the three ageing mechanisms of the silicone rubber material
i.e.
the surface corrosion
the chemical corrosion and the forming of dirty layer by ageing
it is demonstrated that the silicone rubber has a better age-inhibiting function.Moreover
the major reason leading to ageing of silicone rubber is the forming of leakage-current pathway.Salt-fog test shows that the silicone rubber has a function of self-restoration after the insulation level is lowered due to ageing for a period of time.
