Investigations are carried out on high voltage fast transfer switch and a single-pole test prototype has been developed. It consists of a 6 kV/400 A vacuum interrupter

a bidirectional electromagnetic repulsion operating mechanism and a dual steady-state dish spring device. Experiments show that the opening time of the fast transfer switch is about 0.8 ms and the closing time is 2.3 ms approximately.
