Abstract
To study the feasibility of N2/SF6 gas mixture as the insulation dielectric in Gas Insulated Cables (GIC) to replace SF6 gas
the dielectric strength of the N2/SF6 gas mixture is investigated under the power frequency and switching impulse voltages at different pressures
where SF6 is minor constituent. Experimental results show that slightly increasing N2/SF6 pressure over the original SF6 gas pressure without changing GIC dimension and structure can ensure its required dielectric strength.
