This paper presents the results concerning the influence of condul-ting partical fixed on the spacer surface on the impulse flashover level in compressed SF6.Results show that the influence depends mainly on the location and direction of the partical.All results also show that the electric performances of disc spacers with corrugated surface are superior to the disc spacers with smooth surface.Some suggestions are made on designing of spacers used in HVDC GIS.
