Aiming at amorphous alloy distribution transformer burnt fault due to overload
a new overload capability calculation method for oil-immersed amorphous alloy distribution transformer is proposed. Based on the oil-immersed power transformer load guide
the specific overload restrictions and the process of overload capability calculation are determined. And a new hot spot temperature prediction model is established on the basis of the top duct oil temperature following energy conservation. Finally
a SBH15 series amorphous alloy transformer is taken as an example to calculate the overload capability with the proposed hot spot temperature prediction model and the model suggested in the oil-immersed power transformer load guide
respectively. The results indicate that the proposed model can obtain more stringent overload capability criterion than the other.
