The newest model up to 12 kV/6 300 A /80 kA of vacuum interrupter using the uniform distribution axial magnetic field design principle is now available for use in generator circuit protection. Test results show that the vacuum interrupter meets the requirement of generator circuit breaker standard GB/T14824. This paper mainly discusses the design and tests of high currcut vacuum interrupter under severe conditions in generator circuit.
