Rubber seals are widely used in power system.Failure of seals has become an important factor affecting the safe and stable operation of electrical equipment. Therefore
the study of reasons for the failure of seals in the working environment is significant to ensure the reliable operation of oil-filled and inflatable equipment.Based on the typical failure cases of rubber seals in the transformers and the GIS in Fujian Province
the surface defects
operation environment
physicochemical properties of the failed seal and its structural compatibility with seal grooves. The results show that the main reasons for the failure of seals are unreasonable material selection and unreasonable structural design. In order to ensure the reliable sealing and the service life of seals
the seals of different materials should be selected reasonably according to the specific operating environment
and the size of the seal and the seal groove should be matched. At present
the analysis reports on failure cases of rubber seals in electrical equipment is limited. The above research can provide some reference for the production units and the operating units.
