Modelling and Simulation of Combined Voltage Test for Breaker
combined voltage test is conducted to verify the performance of longitudinal insulation of a switchgear. In the test
equipments and elements in test circuit may be exposed to transient overvoltage pulse caused by breakdown or flashover in tested sample. Therefore
it is necessary to establish proper models of test circuits for analyzing the wave shape and peak value of transient overvoltage on the key equipments and investigating corresponding protective measures. This paper establishes two simulation models of test circuits with the software ATP-EMTP to simulate the combined voltage tests for breaker. The combined voltage tests consist of the power frequency voltage combined with power frequency voltage test and the lightning impulse combined with power frequency voltage test.In the power frequency test
transformer is simplified as equivalent entrance capacitance model and breaker as ground capacitance model
and HV lead is treated as distributed parameter models.Comparison of simulation and test results verify the correctness and effectiveness of these models.
