Influence of Cable Terminal Stress Cone Mis-installation on Electrostatic Field
The electrostatic field intensity and distribution around the power cable terminal with 110 kV constant voltage are computed with the finite element method. When the power cable terminal is installed correctly
the stress cone covers the outer semi-conducting layer of 60 mm.Three models of mis-installed power cable terminal are computed for the stress cone covering outer semi-conducting layer of respective 50 mm
46 mm
and 73 mm with the finite element method to analyze the distortion of electrostatic field. The results show that when stress cone covers the outer semi-conducting layer more than 60 mm
the local electrostatic field is distorted obviously and the electrostatic field intensity increases significantly.Over-coverage of the stress cone harms insulation materials.Field test verifies the analysis based on the finite element method.
