In the SF6 insulated high voltage power transmission and transformation apparatuses
such as GIS and GIL
the dielectric strength of interior supporting insulators is an important factor for equipments’ safe and stable operation. In this paper
a cone-plate electrode assembly is built to simulate the electric field distribution of coaxial cylindrical structure inside the GIS/GIL
and a formula with seven influencing factors is chosen for calculation of flashover voltage in SF6.Then some epoxy resin insulators are selected to calculate the surface insulation in SF6 under DC voltage.Calculation results are compared with test ones to determine the applicable scope of the formula. Conclusions are drawn that the formula is appropriate for engineering calculation of surface insulation in SF6 under DC voltage on the premise that the average surface roughness of electrodes can not exceed the grade of 12.5 μm
and the maximum depth of surface roughness in the triple junction area can not exceed 200 μm.
