A defect of gas cavity in insulator of a gas insulated switchgear is analyzed by means of ultra-high frequency detection of partial discharge(PD)
location of defect
pattern recognition
equipment disassembly and experiments. The accurate defect location based on the energy attenuation of ultra-high frequency signal and the time delay of signal arrival is discussed. The defect type is recognized according to the characteristics of PRPD spectrum of the ultra-high frequency signal. Moreover
the defect of gas cavity in insulator is found out though disassembly.
