Simulation of Multipoint Grounding Faults in Metal Sheath of High-voltage Cable Based on ATP
The multipoint grounding fault of high-voltage cable’s metal sheath will cause that circulating current of metal sheath increases significantly
which can speed up the aging of the cable insulation
shorten the service life of cables
reduce the transmission capacity of cables and threaten the safety and stability of the power system. This paper analyses the circulating current of metal sheath in theory
sets up the Bergeron model of cables and makes use of the alternative transient program to simulate multipoint grounding faults in high-voltage cable’s metal sheath of different connection modes. The grounding line current is analyzed to find the factors impact the circulating current and the correlation rule between the circulating current and multipoint grounding faults
which can be used to provide reference for on-line insulation monitoring of high-voltage cable’s metal sheath and determination of fault diagnosis.
