Effects of Lightning Features on Arrester Faults in 10 kV Distribution Network in the Pearl River Delta
To understand and summarize the regularity of surge arrester faults in 10 kV distribution network
the data of surge arrester faults in a 10 kV distribution network in the Pearl River Delta is adopted to classify the surge arrester faults into three types
i.e. flashover on insulation cylinder outer surface
burst of arrestor
and burst of insulation bushing
according to their positions. The causes of the three types of faults are analyzed with consideration of lightning distribution
lightning current amplitude
and surge arrester itself. The reason why the arrester on A-phase line suffers the largest proportion of faults is analyzed via the electro geometric model
and the result indicates that A-phase arrester suffers the impact of high lightning current more easily with the highest action frequency. Moreover
a PSCAD simulation model of 10 kV overhead distribution line is built
and the influences of different grounding modes on lightning current discharge of surge arrester are analyzed to select grounding mode of surge arrester for 10 kV distribution network.
