Impacts of Copper-based Products on the Characteristics of Frequency Domain Dielectric Spectroscopy of Oil-paper Insulation
The internal copper components in oil-immersed power transformer are susceptible to corrosion due to the impurities(acid
sulfur and other substances)in aging transformer oil
eventually leading to a transformer failure. In this study
accelerated thermal aging tests were conducted on transformer oil-paper insulation to find an effective way to monitor the content of copper-based products and analyze the frequency domain dielectric spectroscopy of the transformer oil-paper insulation system with different contents of copper-based products by using two different sets of samples. The results show that the copper-based products have a little influence on t
he real part of the complex dielectric constant of the oil-paper insulation
but a big influence on the imaginary part
especially in the range of middle frequency(100
1
04 Hz). The copper-based products exert an influence on the relaxation mechanism of the oilpaper insulation. The enhanced interfacial polarization and ionic polarization lead to the separation of the relaxation center in the middle frequency band. The fitting the frequency response curves before and after the change using two different relaxation models
the result shows that the new relaxation model is effective.
