Design of Mutual Inductance-based Power Supply for Conductor Monitoring Sensor
A power supply based on mutual inductance for conductor monitoring sensor was designed by making use of the principle of mutual inductance
in which the electric power in the conductor at high-voltage side is inducted to secondary low-voltage side through induction coil
and is then rectified
filtered
voltage-stabilized
and DC-DC processed for online monitoring device. To deal with the problems of transient current
insufficient current
and excessive current in conductor
the transient over-voltage protection
the over-voltage/over-current protection
and the protection for lithium-ion batteries were adopted
respectively. The over-voltage/over-current protection is divided into two levels
one is for the protection in the case of normal fluctuation of current wave
the other is for the protection in the case of abnormal over-current or short-circuit fault of transmission conductor. An experimental platform was constructed for testing the designed power supply. The conductor monitoring device equipped with the designed power supply was validated.
