Simulation of Electric Field for 110 kV Iced Composite Insulator in Melting Period
Ice-melting flashover of insulators harms safe operation of a power system. In this paper
the finite element simulation software ANSYS12.0 is used to build a two-dimensional axis-symmetric model of 110 kV iced composite insulators for simulating and analyzing the effects of the conductivity of the water film on insulator
the thickness of the water film
and the water film with water droplets during ice-melting period on the electric field distribution. The results show that: 1)The effect of the water film conductivity on the electric field distribution enhances with the length of the ice increasing; 2)The increase in the water film thickness reduces the air gap
resulting in an enhancement of field intensity on the ice tip; and 3)the water droplets at the edge of the water film significantly affect the surface field distribution.
