Analysis of the Factors Influencing on the Very Fast Transient Overvoltage and Current Generated in 252 kV GIS
Disconnector switching in gas insulated substation(GIS)may generate very fast transient overvoltage(VFTO)and current(VFTC)
which are characterized by their high peak value
short rise time and high frequencies. This overvoltage may cause high electric stress to the insulation in GIS and the adjacent apparatuses. So
it is very important to study the characterizes of VFTO and VFTC for the power system’s security and stability. This paper studies the influences of transformer’s coupling capacitance and the switching speed of disconnector to the VFTO and VFTC based on the measuring system. When the coupling capacitance is 300 p F
800 p F and 1 100 p F
the test result shows that the amplitude of VFTO and VFTC will increase with the rising of coupling capacitance. The closing and opening speeds of the disconnector equipped with six springs with different stiffness coefficients are measured and the influences of the switching sppeds of the disconnector on VFTO and VFTC are investigated. It is concluded that the amplitude of VFTO increases as the switching speed getting slowly. The frequency
amplitude and rise time of VFTO and VFTC are analyzed statistically under the two spring speeds.
