The existing sensor contacting type and wired data transmission type temperature monitoring devices for switchgear contacts are deficient in security. In this paper

an online temperature monitoring/warning system for switchgear contacts is proposed on the basis of the Zig Bee wireless communication principle. The pretreatment of temperature monitoring data

the changing trend prediction algorithm of temperature

and the over-temperature warning program are discussed and designed. And the distributed hardware platform

the data transmission format

and the upper host-computer software based on Lab VIEW are developed. Tests show that the online temperature monitoring/warning scheme for switchgear contacts is feasible

in which the data of equipment status are transmitted reliably and rapidly

and the monitoring/warning information is visualized.
