Analysis on a Floating Discharge Defect in GIS Disconnecting Switch
A typical floating discharge defect in GIS disconnecting switch was analyzed. UHF detection method of partial discharge was adopted to locate the defect position
and the type of the defect was judged to be floating discharge according to the feature of UHF signal. Disassembly inspection showed apparent imprint of discharge at the position of connecting pin of the moving contact and insulating rod. Because the size of pin didn’t meet the design demand
insufficient connection of the moving contact and pin resulted in the floating discharge in the open state of the disconnecting switch.
