Analysis and Treatment of a 35 kV Transformer Explosion Accident in a 220 kV Substation
A 35 kV transformer explosion accident caused by ferromagnetic resonance was analysed. It was found that the increase of the bus voltage due to ferromagnetic resonance of the potential transformer(PT)destroyed the 35 kV transformer’s insulation system
resulting in subsequent short-circuit fault and the following accident. In order to avoid this kind of accident
a nonlinear harmonic elimination device was installed at the 35 kV PT neutral point
thus the 35 kV bus and capacitor operate normally
and the ferromagnetic resonance is suppressed perfectly.
