Bounce Detection and Diagnosis of the Auxiliary Contacts During the Switching Process of the Circuit Breaker’s Closing Resistor
Closing resistors are an important part of EHV and UHV circuit breakers
and can effectively restrict switching surges. In view of complex structure of closing resistors
they are easy to cause power equipment or grid accident. The paper explains the structure and operating principle of the circuit breaker fractures with closing resistors
and then describes a method to diagnose the condition of the auxiliary contacts during the switching process of the closing resistor based on its switch waveform signal. The method is applied in field and verified by disassembling inspection. Based on the method
some indiscoverable auxiliary fracture’s contract bounce faults which can not be found could be diagnosed
and the result is useful for the security and stability of the power system.
