Effect of Contamination Composition on AC Flashover Performance of XWP2-70 Insulator String
The accidents caused by insulator pollution flashover seriously harm safe operation of power system. Different power transmission lines have different surrounding environments and different contamination compositions on their insulator surfaces. So it is necessary to research the effects of different contamination compositions on flashover performance of insulators. In this study
the XWP
2
-70 standard porcelain insulator was chosen for artificial pollution tests. The integral conductivity and flashover voltage of the contamination layer on the insulator were measured under different salt density and contamination composition
then the effects of salt density and contamination composition on the integral conductivity and flashover voltage were analysed. As a result
the p
ollution flashover performance of the XWP

-70 porcelain insulator string was obtained. This study may provide a reference for design and selection of external insulation of power transmission lines.
