New High-speed Switch with Electromagnetic Repulsion Mechanism
High-speed switch based on electromagnetic repulsion principle has a simple operating mechanism and short breaking time. It plays a key role in hybrid DC breaker and fault current limiter
etc. This paper presents a new high-speed switch with electromagnetic repulsion mechanism
and designs a15 k V prototype by theoretical approximate calculation and finite element simulation analysis. The reason of opening bouncing and opening failure is analyzed
and mathematical relationships among all the parameters in opening bouncing process are derived. Test results show that the prototype’s 9 mm-full stroke time is2.9 ms
and opening bouncing distance is not more than 2 mm. In addition
this paper proposes the directions and priorities for research of high voltage high-speed switch.
