Analysis of Low Frequency Oscillation for Power System with Large Wind Power Integration Based on PMSG-PSS
With the continuous development and utilization of wind energy resources
the proportion of wind power in power system increases rapidly. At present
most of wind turbines especially the PMSG have no ability to provide power support when power system oscillates. Therefore
the integration of large scale PMSG will weaken the relative inertia and damping characteristics of the system. To solve this problem
controlling the electronic devices to set up the coupling relationship between PMSG and the system and adding PSS control to enable PMSG to damp the power system oscillations were presented to improve the stability of regional power grid. Finally
a time-domain simulation in four-machine two-area IEEE power system was conducted to indicate the proposed method. Simulation results show that this method is helpful for improving the system inertia and damping ratio of the power system with large wind power integration
and strengthen the ability to damp the power system oscillations.
