Effect of Fog Water Conductivity on AC Fog Flashover Characteristics of FXBW-35/70 Composite Insulator
the steam fog wetting method is frequently used for the electrical characteristics of polluted insulators in artificial fog tests. However
experimental experience shows that
it is difficult to control wetting time with this steam input rate. Moreover
the temperature in the chamber rises over the duration of the test. Both of these factors make the fog test less representative.Based on measurements of ac fog flashover performance of FXBW-35/70 composite insulator in the artificial climate chamber that make use of arrays of ultrasonic fog nozzles fed with water build up fog faster. The tests show that the relationships between flashover voltage and Salt Deposit Density(SDD)can be expressed as a negative exponential function. However
the fitting formulas
which are simulated on ac pollution flashover voltages at the various pollution degrees
are consistent under different fog water conductivity. Moreover
the relationships between flashover voltage and fog water conductivity can be expressed as an exponential function. Therefore
the external insulation selection of transmission lines should consider the influence of the fog conductivity. The results of the research may provide valuable reference for engineering applications.
