Study on Performance Change of Line Operating Long Rod Suspension Composite Insulators During Tracking Wheel Test
As an important aging method of composite insulator
the tracking wheel test is recommended by IEC62217—2005 document. But it is needed to be further studied that the performances change of on-line composite in-sulators during the tracking wheel test. In the paper
the tracking wheel test is carried out on four line long rod sus-pension composite insulators which of different operating life
during which the change of surface discharge and leak-age current is monitored
the hydrophobic test and the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis(FTIR)aretested and analysis. The results descript that there are three development stages of the surface discharge and the leak-age current amplitude
during which the speed of the hydrophobic performance degradation and the Si-O-Si and Si-CH3 group peak area reduce has a difference. There also have a proportional relationship between the speed and theaging degree of composite insulator. The reference of which the tracking wheel test can be applied to evaluate the ag-ing of composite insulator is provided by the experiment result.
