Study on the Effect of Environmental Factors on Hydrophobicity of Composite Insulator
In order to study the variation of hydrophobicity of composite insulator in different environment
a com-posite insulator test platform is set up in the laboratory environment
the corona aging
equipment salt deposit density(ESDD)
non soluble deposit density(NSDD)salt and wear are simulated and the static contact angle method and wa-ter spray classification method are also used to test the loss and recovery characteristics of hydrophobicity in differentenvironment. Results shows that corona discharge can cause the hydrophobicity of composite insulator exhibits atrend of an approximate linear in the first and a stable decrease
after the corona discharge is stopped
hydrophobici-ty exhibits a recovery characteristics of a linear increase in the first and then a stable increase
and the aggravation ofcorona aging will lead some of the simples can not return to the initial static contact angle. The static contact angle ex-hibits a transfer characteristics of an approximate exponential increase in the first and then tends to be stable after ESDD and NSDD. When the NSDD is high
the transfer velocity of the static contact angle is much faster and the stat-ic contact angle is higher. Wear can cause a decrease and even a temporary loss of hydrophobicity. The water sprayclassification is more suitable to evaluate of the effect of wear on hydrophobicity than the static contact angle method.
