Directional Element of Current for Active Distribution Network
When distributed generation is connected with power distribution network
the network structure is transformed from a radiant single-source network to a multi-direction and multi-source network. In order to absorb the amount of the distributed power
active distribution network must collect directional information. As the distribution network nodes do not equipped with voltage transformers
traditional power direction element is no longer applicable. In this paper
a directional element of current based on positive sequence fault component is presented. It can make use of the phase difference between the current positive sequence fault component and the reference quantity defined bycurrent positive sequence fault component to discriminate the fault direction without needing voltage information. Thiselement is applicable to any branch node
and is not affected by load current. Simulation via PSCAD/EMTDC verifies the function of the directional element.
