Impact of Magnetostrictive Effect on Ultrasonic Detection of GIS Partial Discharge and Example Analysis
To improve the ultrasonic detection accuracy of partial discharge in gas insulated switchgear(GIS)and avoidpower outage caused by false judgment
the difference between the magnetostrictive effect and the suspended dischargeand mechanical vibration in the ultrasonic detection of partial discharge is analyzed through an on-site testing instance.Result shows that the surface molecules of the GIS shell material produce 100 Hz periodic vibration with correlation char-acteristics when larger load current flows past the three-phase box of steel GIS
and the vibration amplitude is proportion-al to the load current. In addition
a method for distinguishing magnetostrictive noise and discharge signal is put forward.
