Influence of Electrical Trace on Polarization/Depolarization Current of Ethylene-propylene Rubber
To investigate the surface trace and surface discharge of the ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) and the influence of the trace on polarization/depolarization current (PDC)
an aging experiment was conducted according to the standard IEC 60587:2007 to simulate the surface dirty environment and to analyze the formation mechanism of surface electrical trace. Then
the PDC of EPR with different state of erosion was measured. The results indicated that the leakage current was easy to occur in the wet and dirty area
resulting in the formation of dry zone. Repetitive discharge in the dry zone could further damage the surface of insulation and lead to surface discharge. The insulation resistance of EPR was related to the erosion degree of the surface electrical trace. With the increase of erosion degree of surface trace on EPR
