Influence of Ice Shape Around Transmission Line on Ice Melting Process Under Natural Condition
the high direct-current ice melting technology is the most effective way to solve the icing problem of overhead transmission line. Ice shape on conductor has a significant influence on the ice melting time. This paper focuses on the ice shape measurement and DC ice-melting test at a naturally icing test station. The results show that: ① the ice shape on conductor varies with the distance to the tower;② the icing layer at the position close to the tower is thin
and it gets thicker as approaching to the center of the conductor
which means the increasing volume of ice needs to be melt during ice melting process;③ the arrangement of conductors also influences the thickness of ice and the volume of ice layer to be melt;④ the change of ice shape on bundled conductor is smaller than that on single conductor because bundled conductor is difficult to twist. DC ice-melting test shows that the ice drops off firstly at two ends of conductor and finally at the center during the ice melting process
and the time duration of ice melting appear certain dispersion.
