GIS is widely used in power grid with its excellent performance. In the practical operation
besides the accidents caused by discharge faults
there are also a lot of accidents which are induced by mechanical faults. The existing GIS detection methods are mainly for discharge faults
but seldom for mechanical faults. Potential transformer(PT)is easy to generate mechanical vibration in GIS. In this study
the self-developed GIS vibration test system was applied to the measurement in the PT position in a 110 kV GIS
and contrastive analysis of the measurement results was performed. The results show that the vibration of PT itself is stronger than the vibration at the connection with adjacent device
and the strongest vibration is observed in the middle of PT. This research may provide data support for on-site testing of GIS vibration and diagnosis of mechanical faults.
