Multi-parameter Effects on Ozone Generation in Parallel Dielectric Barrier Discharge
The DBD characteristics are mainly evaluated by discharge parameter so it is important to study DBD discharge parameters for ozone synthesis. The effects of peak voltage frequency and gas flow rate on discharge characteristics and ozone generation in parallel DBD are investigated in this work. The Q-V Lissajous figure is used to calculate equivalent capacitance reduced field discharge power and then the relation of ozone concentration and yield are obtained. The experimental results show when peak voltage increases from 5 kV to 9 kV and frequency rises from5.5 kHz to 8 kHz the discharge power increases linearly and reduced field and the equivalent capacitance of dielectric increase gradually too.The equivalent capacitance of gap decreases slightly meanwhile the total equivalent capacitance minimum discharge voltage and breakdown voltage are nearly constant.Ozone concentration increases first then decreases with increasing peak voltage and increases slowly with increasing frequency while the ozone yield decreases with the increase of both peak voltage and frequency. When gas flow rate changes from 0.5 L/min to4.5 L/min discharge characteristics keep almost constant and ozone yield goes up.In addition increasing the gas flow rate can promote ozone generation at a constant frequency and higher peak voltage.
