is prone to sustain large displacement under seismic actions. Besides
the connection parts between the valve and its adjacent equipment and the interaction between valve and hall building need to be further studied. Based on a ±800 kV hall building with six thyristor valves and taking the connection mechanics of adjacent post insulator into consideration
a finite element model including the hall building
thyristor valve and the whole loop is established and then analyzed under various seismic input ground motions using time history analysis method. The results show that the thyristor valve has very large horizontal displacement during earthquake motions. The vavle hall building has significant seismic amplification effects of the input motion on the thyristor vavles near its own natural frequency range. The employment of flexible busbar and connection fittings with large deformation capacity can avoid the dynamic interaction between the valve and its adjacent post insulator. The amplification caused by hall building should be considered in seismic design and the connection fittings between valve and adjacent equipment should have large deformation capacity to improve the seismic performance.
