Effect of Sulfur Corrosion on the Characteristic of Partial Discharge in Turn-to-turn Winding Insulation in Power Transformer
S deposition can be formed on insulation paper surface due to the corrosion reaction between cor-rosive sulfur in transformer oil and copper winding. This deposition presents conductive. Oil-paper insulation withdifferent concentrations of corrosive sulfur is investigated by a corrosion experiment to understand the effect of depo-sition on characteristic of partial discharge. Windings are unfolded after experiment and surface of copper and insula-tion paper are observed and analyzed. Partial discharge inception voltage(PDIV) of oil-paper insul
ation samples ismeasured and corresponding partial discharge signals are recorded. Three types of spectrograms called q-φ
H
qmax
(φ)and H
qave
(φ) are obtained. The results show that the deposition is Cu

S. Copper winding would be corroded more if sul-fur concentration in oil is higher. And corresponding PDIV of windings is decreased. On the other hand
corrosionleads to the characteristics change of PD
the increase of discharge
the widening of discharge phase and the easiermovement of discharge phase. Cu
