Phenomenon of Oil Flow Static Electrification and Its Influence on Breakdown Strength of Converter Transformer Under Multi Parameters
Forced convection of insulation oil is the main heat transfer mode in large-power and ultra-high voltage(UHV) transformer. In order to further reveal the harm of electrostatic phenomenon of the oil flow to this type of transformer
this research established an oil flow testing platform.Oil flow electrification was measured on this platform
and the influences of oil temperature
flow velocity and applied electric field on the breakdown strength of fresh and dry transformer oil were investigated. The results show that:1) the current in the oil flow increases with the increase of the temperature when the temperature is below 50℃
but it reverses when the temperature is above 50℃;2) under DC voltage the current in the oil flow increases with the increase of the flow velocity
while the polarity of the current reverses at the flow velocity of 6.9 m/s;and 3) the oil electrification phenomenon may lead to reduction of the breakdown strength of the oil.It is suggested that some countermeasures should be taken to restrain the possible harm caused by oil flow electrification in UHV converter transformer.
