Simulation Study of Operation Mechanism in High-speed DC Circuit Breaker
The improvement of DC transmission voltage level makes it important to develop corresponding DC interrupting device
and the reliability of circuit breaker’s operation mechanism directly affects its interruption performance. In this essay
the operating mechanism of the circuit breaker in the DC interrupting device is researchedand a simulation model of the high-speed operating mechanism which is driven by electromagnetic repulsion force and held by permanent magnet and spring is proposed to analyze the electromagnetic-structural coupling process and electromagnetic-mechanical coupling process of the electromagnetic repulsion mechanism(ERM).The simulation results show that when the charging voltage of switching capacitor is 4 000 V
the electromagnetic repulsion force of the ERM is about 128 kN
and the average speed of the metal plate can reach 3.7 m/s.The stress peak of the metal plate occurs near the inside of the driving axis and decreases gradually from the inside to the outside.Furthermore
a prototype of the ERM is designed and developed
and the simulation results are verified through experiments. The two results have good consistency.
