Influence of Opening Velocity on Short-circuit Current Interruption Arcing Time Windows of a Fast Vacuum Circuit Breaker
It becomes possible for controlled switching technologies to eliminate a short-circuit fault in power systems
since a fast vacuum circuit breaker(FVCB) has an advantage of a shorter and a lower dispersity on opening time. The objective of this paper is to investigate the influence of an opening velocity on the arcing time window of the FVCB.A kinds of butt-type contact is used in the experiment
with the contact diameter is 58 mm
and the contact material is CuCr50.The opening velocity of the test FVCB includes 2.5 m/s
3.5 m/s and 4.5 m/s.The experiment is performed according to the test duty T100s(b) of 40.5 kV specified in the national standard GB/T 1984—2014.Results show that both the reliable interrupting minimum arcing time and the maximum arcing time decrease with the increasing of the opening velocity. The results can provide theoretical basis and technical support for the research on the strategy for the FVCB for a reliable controlled switching of the short circuit current.
