Research on Invasion of Moisture into the Crimping Interface of Insulator Under Hygrothermal Environment
Composite insulator is the key equipment in power grid. Under the hygrothermal environment southern China
the moisture is more likely to invade into the insulator
which might result in occurrence of temperature rise and mechanical damage. For studying the the invasion path of moisture into the crimping interface of the insulator in the hydrothermal environment
the composite insulators out of operation are selected for boiling and socking test. Such tools as FTIR
XPS
SEM and EDS analysis are used to analyze the aging degree of the sealant at the high voltage sealing end of untreated insulator and and that at the low voltage sealing end of treated insulator on the interface of air
sheath and metal fitting. It is concluded through the test that crosslink reaction of sealant sheath sample and sheath can occur during the operation. The aging condition of the sealant sample at the high-voltage end is more serious than that of the low-voltage end. The aging of the fitting interface sample is more serious than that of the air interface. The path of invasion of moisture into the crimping interface of the insulator is mainly from the fitting interface of the sealant.
