Design of Self-integrating Capacitive Voltage Divider for Ferrite Transmission Line Voltage Measurement
For studying the steepening mechanism of the ferrite transmission line to the pulse front edge
six coupling self-integrating capacitive dividers are developed to measure the voltage waveforms at different positions of the transmission line so as to analyze the pulse front steepening process. Firstly
the equivalent circuits model of capacitive voltage divider is set up by Pspice
and the influence of coax signal cable matching modes and stray inductance of compensation capacitor on the measurement output of capacitive voltage divider is analyzed from time domain and frequency domain. A PCB coaxial structure with multiple capacitors in parallel is proposed to reduce the influence of stray inductance on pulse high-frequency oscillation. Then
a kind of coupling capacitive voltage divider with low stray inductance is designed in accordance with the structure of the transmission line. The capacitance of the high and low voltage arms are calculated by Comsol simulation and the theoretical voltage ratio is derived. The output signal of the capacitive voltage divider operating in D-dot mode and self-integrating mode are tested experimentally and the voltage ratio and response time of the dividers are calibrated. The results showed that the voltage ratio of the designed capacitive voltage dividers is close to the theoretical value and the response time is about 2.1 ns. The simultaneous measurement of pulse voltages at different positions of the 6-stage ferrite transmission line is achieved.
