Study on Internal Heat Transfer Characteristics of Converter Transformer Under OFAF Cooling Mode
With the increase of rated load of converter transformer
the heat dissipation of its internal winding has attracted more and more attention. Aiming at the converter transformer at a HVDC converter station in the north of China
the influence of inlet oil flow
inlet oil temperature and other factors on the internal flow and heat transfer of the transformer under OFAF (oil forced air forced) cooling mode is studied
and the design scheme of deflector which can enhance the heat transfer is proposed. The study results show that when the inlet oil temperature is 20 ℃
the minimum cooling oil flow to achieve the best internal heat dissipation effect is 7.5 kg/s. The increase of inlet oil temperature will greatly reduce the viscosity of cooling oil
which will reduce the relative temperature rise inside the winding. Addition of the deflector can effectively strengthen the internal heat transfer of the transformer. When the deflector is completely closed
the top oil temperature can be reduced by about 9 ℃ under rated working conditions. The study results are of great significance to guide the design
operation and maintenance of converter transformer.
