Penetration Depth of Critical Refraction Longitudinal Waves in Epoxy Resin Insulating Spacer
Insulating spacer for GIS can produce residual stress during manufacturing process
which in turn reduces the mechanical
strength of the insulating spacer and eventually leads to its rupture and is a major safety hazard affecting safe operation of the insulating spacer. The critical refractive longitudinal waves (L
CR
) are extremely sensitive to material stress and can be used to detect the residual stresses of the insulating spacer. In this paper
the principle of L
CR
wave method for detecting internal stresses at different depths of epoxy materials is analyzed
a finite element simulation model of L
CR
wave propagation in epoxy composite material is set up through simulation
the propagation characteristics of L
CR
waves of different frequencies in epoxy are studied
and the expression of L
CR
wave propagation depth in epoxy materials at common frequencies is obtained and experimental verification is performed. The results show that the penetration depth of L
CR
waves in the epoxy composite material attenuates with the increase of the frequency of the wave
and the penetration depth of the L
CR
wave in the epoxy composite material is accurately controlled by changing the L
CR
wave frequency generated by the probe
thus the average stress of the material at this depth can be calculated. This can not only provide theoretical guidance and technical support for delivery detection of residual stress of insulating spacer
but also for the condition monitoring of the insulating spacer in operation.
