Simulation Study on Maximum Acceptable Ice-melting Current for OPGW DC Ice Melting
In order to obtain the acceptable maximum ice melting current of the ice-coated line of the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire (OPGW) during the DC ice melting process under different ambient temperatures and ice thickness
the coupling model of the 2D temperature field-flow field of OPGW under ice coated condition is set up on the basis of analyzing heat exchange process and its physical model during the ice melting period of the transmission line
and the finite element simulation software is used for simulation solution and rationality verification of the segmentation results. Based on the model analysis
the temperature of line in case of no wind and of variation of the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire when the ambient temperature is in the range of (-10) - (-5) ℃
the thickness of the ice layer in the range of 8-14 mm and the ice melting current in the range of 260-570 A are obtained. The results show that the maximum temperature of the line during the ice melting process is not affected by the ambient temperature
and the maximum temperature increases with the increase of the ice layer thickness. With the increase of ice coated thickness
the acceptable maximum melting current will gradually decrease. Based on the above data
the prediction formula of the acceptable maximum ice melting current for the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire based on the thickness of the ice layer is given
and the modeling results under different ambient temperatures and ice layer thicknesses are used for preliminary verification. This paper has a certain reference value for the selection of the DC ice melting current of the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire.
